Niamh Boadle & Tri Niamh Boadle

We saw Niamh at the St Albans, New Roots Competition 2008 final. Highly commended as a performer by Pete Coe, Eliza Carthy and Lynne Heraud, (some recommendation that), we invited Niamh to come to Bideford Folk Festival as part of of New Roots Concert featuring the finalists from that day. She came - played at the Irish Night - featured in sessions and concerts - knocked everyone out with her talent and we are pleased to have her in the programme again this year not only as a solo artiste but as a member of Tri.

Niamh , aged only 15, is already a regular artist at Fylde Folk Festival and well-known at Folk Clubs in Lancashire. Starting with Irish step-dancing at a very young age, she followed her sister into traditional Irish music and has competed in the All-Ireland Fleadh three times, with both voice and instruments. She sings, lilts and plays guitar, fiddle, whistle and bodhran, and her arrangements of Irish, English and Scottish music range from traditional to contemporary.

Niamh will be at the festival with her Mum and Dad who support and encourage her. She wore the boots last year - may well have grown out of them by this year - we look forward to her footwear, her songs and music.
