James Findlay is a Dorset based traditional singer, fiddler and guitarist starting to make an impression at folk clubs and festivals. One of the 2008 New Roots finalists James received great praise from the judges; Pete Coe, Eliza Carthy and Lynne Heraud and it was well deserved. His performance has maturity and style and he sings his songs with the confidence of a seasoned performer. We are looking forward to hearing him again at this years festival.
Coming from a musical background, he is influenced by all genres of music. However, his love lies in traditional English folk music and ballads, his style being inspired by Nic Jones, and singers such as The Watersons.
According to James " I mainly play and sing traditional Englishy stuff.
That’s pretty much it really.
I also play as the duo fingerz n fretz with the fiddle and guitar legend Jerry Bird, playing many songs and tunes from Dorset and Somerset and elsewhere.
James certainly made an impression last year - make sure you don't miss him!
