Tom Redman

Originally from Sussex, Tom is a versatile multi-instrumentalist who can boast ‘Cello, Bass Guitar, Guitar, French Horn as well as a great singing voice. Tom is enthusiastic about arranging traditional songs with tunes drawing influences from other musical genres. As a solo artist Tom sings to his own ‘Cello accompaniment. Tom was a 2009 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award Semi-finalist.

He is fortunate to be the electric Bass player for 2008 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award Finalist Dogan Mehmet and his cutting edge folk fusion band ‘The Deerhunters’. Tom also plays in the Dogan Mehmet trio which has taken him on a festival crawl of Sidmouth, Crawley, Chepstow 2 Rivers and Larmer Tree festivals.

Tom played alongside Matt Quinn and Dogan Mehmet in the entertaining, innovative acoustic trio 'Too Many Strings' which took him to play at Folk Clubs in the South East as well as at Whitby Folk Week where he has also made solo appearances.

Tom is an enthusiastic dancer and can be seen out and about with his charismatic home team ‘Brighton Morris Men’. He is also exited to be a member of the brand new young Sheffield Morris side ‘Five Rivers Morris’.
