Rocas
Definitely a band that are going to make a name for themselves on the festival circuit, Rocas has evolved from the duo of Sarah Mooney and Alexander Percy through various lineups to it's current 7 piece form. The latest lineup augments the ever present strong instrumental sound, with two superb singers and multi-instrumentalists; Phil Wilcox (Vocals/Accordion/Bass/Bouzouki) and Dogan Mehmet (Vocals/Fiddle/Tenor Guitar) 2008 BBC Young Folk Awards Finalist.
The band has expanded and changed over the years, all the time proving popular and performing at many events including, Sidmouth Festival, Crawley Festival, Wallingford Festival, Crawley Irish Festival, Wadebridge Festival, Synergy and always geting the crowd up and moving.
The current sound draws heavily on English tradional song from Dorset, where Alex and Phil's roots lie. This is interspersed with dance tunes from around the British Isles, led by fiddles, wooden flutes, accordion and Uillean Pipes and all of it raised into the festival party spirit with the superb backing of piano/organ, bouzouki, bass and percussion from award winning Bodhran exponent Tess Livingstone.
